	Exceeds 3 pts	Proficient 2 pts	Novice 1 pts
Posture	Exceeds Student always sits tall Feet are always flat on the floor Chair is always moved back away from the desk Back is always away from the back of the chair	Proficient Student needs reminders to sit tall Feet are flat on the floor with a reminder Chair is moved back away from the desk with a reminder Back is away from the back of the chair with a reminder	Novice Student is still working on sitting tall Feet are flat on the floor only with many reminders Chair is moved back away from the desk with many reminders Back is away from the back of the chair with many reminders
Hand Position	Exceeds Left hand is always on top Student holds the recorder tightly and no air escapes Always holds the recorder with 2 hands Right hand thumb is on fuzzy button in the back Little finger and ring finger cover the double holes on the bottom	Proficient Left hand is on top with a reminder Student holds the recorder tightly at times Right thumb covers fuzzy button with a reminder Holds the recorder with 2 hands with a reminder	Novice Left hand is not usually on the top Student still has trouble holding the recorder tightly Right thumb is not covering the fuzzy button It is still hard to hold the recorder with 2 hands even with a reminder
Breath	Exceeds Student blows gently all the time	Proficient Student blows gently sometimes	Novice Student over blows and the recorder makes a loud squeaky sound often.
