Hands and fingers are always in the correct placement. Angle of instrument is excellent. Student played with straight back, chin up, and with instrument correctly placed at mouth.

Hands are in the correct placement. Fingers are all correct. Reasonable approximation of correct angle of instrument and posture.

Hands are in the right order. Fingers are not in the correct place always. Angle of instruments incorrect. Poor posture.

Hands are in the wrong order. Fingers are not placed where they are supposed to be. Poor posture and incorrect angle of instrument.

No mistakes. Correct notes played. Correct fingering with excellent sealing of all holes.

No steady rhythm. Lots of breaks and pauses. No note was held for its full rhythmic value.
Airstream and Control

Excellent breath control with no overblowing causing squeaking or out of tune notes and no underblowing resulting in a waivering tone.

Good breath control with very rare or no overblowing causing squeaking or out of tune notes and vary rare or no underblowing resulting in a waivering tone.
