Declaration rewrite 
Using the Declaration of Independence as your guide, paraphrase its passages in common language that is in use today. Do this in groups and reassemble the document when you are done.

Group does not finish the project in the allotted time due to internal disagreements and disharmony. Members do not work together well. Teacher must redirect the group tostay on track.
Fair

The group finishes the project in time with any disputes being settled by the group with little or no redirection by the teacher. They are ready to present on time.
Good

Group settles disagreements satisfactorily and needs no intervention or redirection from the teacher. They are organized and ready to present on time.
Rewrite Language

Poor

Group did not change the language used in the Declaration to language frequently used today. Used many of the same words originally used in the Declaration to rewrite it.
Fair

Group changed most of the language into modern day usage. Some words either misdefined or used out of context if reused.
Good

Group completely rewrote the Declaration in modern use language. All words easily readable and understandable in todays language usage.
Presentation

Poor

Group did no presentation. Presentation was inaudible. Presentation was done out of sequence. Presentation did not reflect the intended passage.
Fair

Presentation contained all of the required elements. It was audible, in sequence and reflected the intended passage.
Good

Presentation contained the required elements. It was audible, reflected the intended passage, and was in sequence. It also conveyed the essential ideas of the passage in clear modern terms.
