Textures All Around Us
This project is connected to the second grade's science unit on weather. The unit begins with a class discussion of comparing Georgia O'Keffee's and Wissaly Kindinsky's are works of storms. The students then make their own paper with expressive textures. The paper is used to cut and collage shapes expressing their own storm. The art standards covered are: S2B1: Apply color, shape, and line to create textures S4B1: Compare and contrast works of art

The student was able to cut and create a collage but was unable to create a positive/negative shape, a swirl shape, or
a relief shape.

The student was able to cut and collage and only able to complete one or two of the requirements.

The student was able to complete the collage with the positive/negative, swirl, and relief shapes.
Excellent
The student used all the criteria but went beyond by creating his/her own unique shapes and cut textures.
