Movement to the ball is delayed resulting in run-throughs or unnecessary diving.

Moves to the ball fluidly, staying low. Is often able to get into a stable platform position at contact.

Moves fluidly to the ball, contacts the ball in a low, stable platform. Is able to anticipate ball trajectory and, therefore, move into position before the ball arrives.

Elbows/Forearms

Elbows remain bent,
ball does not contact both forearms.
Satisfactory
Elbows straight but strikes one arm only, body not centered behind the ball.

Contacts ball with both forearms and is most oftenable to direct ball to target.
Excellent
Waits for the ball. Takes ball in center of body. Contact occurs near the elbow of the forearms. Able to direct the ball to intended target.
Hands/Wrist
Needs Improvement
Hands stay together when contacting the ball, creating a double hit.
Satisfactory
Hands stay together. Wrist are not directed down toward the floor.
Good
Hands stay together, wrists are directed down toward the floor.
Excellent
Change hands into position quickly. Doesn't stand with hands together. Moves body into position before putting hands together. Able to direct the ball to the intended target.
