Quantity of Work for each Entry	Needs Improvement Entry is too short and too rushed to explain main ideas and thoughts about the book.	Good Entry is appropriate in length to explain the main ideas; however, one or more main idea is missing.	Excellent Entry length shows the student put extra effort and time into responding to the book.
Understanding the Epic Hero	Needs Improvement Incomplete, more than one entry missing.	Good Entries are complete; however, some faulty analysis.	Excellent Entries are complete and analysis is 100% accurate.
Grammar, punctuation, and spelling	Needs Improvement Student response has multiple errors. No proofreading evident.	Good Student response has some errors, some proofreading is evident.	Excellent Student response is almost error free. Careful attention to proofreading is evident.
Literary Techniques	Needs Improvement Less than one literary technique per chapter.	Good All literary techniques complete; however, some examples are inaccurate.	Excellent All literary techniques complete and almost all are correct examples.
