Monologue Reading
	Exceptional 25 pts	Acceptable 20 pts	Needs Work 10 pts	Insufficient 5 pts
Volume	Exceptional Student could be heard through out the monologue. Volume increased or decreased appropriately with the words of the script.	Acceptable Student could be heard through most of the monologue. Overly loud or soft at times when uneccessary.	Needs Work Student could be heard in about half of the monologue. Volume changes did not fit with words of script.	Insufficient Student could not be heard through most of the monologue.
Pacing	Exceptional Pacing was appropriate with words of the script. Pacing did not affect the understanding of the monologue.	Acceptable Pacing was too fast or too slow for the words of the script at times.	Needs Work Pacing of spoken monologue interfered with the understanding of most of the monologue.	Insufficient Pacing so fast or so slow that monolgue was unclear.
Fluency	Exceptional Student sounded as though they were speaking the words in regular conversation.	Acceptable Some pauses or unfamiliarity with the words, but most of the monologue was spoken as though said in regular conversation.	Needs Work Many pauses or unfamiliar words. More rehearsal needed.	Insufficient Monologue spoken as if read for the first time.
Tone	Exceptional Tone appropriate for monologue, based on text.	Acceptable Tone sufficient throughout monologue with some areas where tone does not match words.	Needs Work Tone sufficient in about half of the monologue with many areas where tone does not match words.	Insufficient No tone used or inappropriate tone used.
