Map or Timeline for Nonfiction book 
The purpose of this unit is to facilitate student learning about the world in which we live. The student will choose geographic terms and create a geography dictionary which will define and illustrate their chosen terms. The student will use technology to conduct internet research in order to be able to define these terms, present facts about their chosen country’s resources, culture, government, religion, geography, political atmosphere, social events, recreational pastimes, history, economics, etc. After the student has gathered all of the research, they will synthesize the information and develop an illustrated geographic dictionary.

Progressing Towards Standards

Student's work shows minimal thought and/or planning. Events and or locations are shallow and only show a cursory knowledge of material in the book.
Does Not Meet Standards

Student's work does not show thought or planning. Events and/or locations are random and do not demonstrate that the student has any knowledge of material in the book.
Overall Appearance & Presentation

Exceeds Standards

Student has created a map or timeline that is neat and professional looking. The events listed are presented neatly and well-organized.
Meets Standards

Student has created a project that is typed (or neatly written in ink), bound in some format, and somewhat professional. However, it may have some errors that make it appear slightly messy.
Progressing Towards Standards

Student has created a project that lacks an easily identifiable format. The list is not typed nor bound together in any format. It is not organized well.
Does Not Meet Standards

Student has created a project that lacks any identifiable format. The list is messy, papers are crumpled or words smeared. It is not bound together, not organized at all.
