S/he does not use "likes" or "as" to compare. The metaphor is somewhat figurative and tells about the writer's life.	Poor Student compares something to his/her life. S/he uses few likes" or "as" to compare. The metaphor is simply a list of comparisons between the life of the writer what his/her life is being compared to.
Catchy beginning x1	Excellent The beginning is clearly interesting and grabs the reader's interest, as does the whole piece.	Fair The beginning is somewhat catchy and interesting. The rest of the writing is somewhat interesting.	Poor The beginning is not catchy. The rest of the writing could be improved.
