Journals Preamble At the completion of this lesson, students will be able to demonstrate how to use a file tree (saving a retreiving a document. Students will also be able to demonstrate the use of MS Word for Journaling. This is an ongoing assignment that the students will work on when they first enter the computer lab. Basic Computer Operations	Excellent Demonstrate intermediate keyboarding skills and proper keyboarding techniques	Good Demonstrate knowledge of the location of some of the keys. Only needs to look at some of the keys.	Fair Needs to look at most of the keys. Able to find the space bar and shift keys.	Poor Unable to find any of the keys without intensive searching
Basic Computer Operations	Excellent Copy and paste text and images within a document, as well as from one document to another. Demonstrates an understanding of formatting.	Good Copy and paste text and images within a document. Needs to be reminded to use formatting features.	Fair Requires reminder on proper copy and paste techniques. Word Processing	Excellent Use menu/tool bar functions in a word processing program (i.e., font size/style, line spacing, margins) to format, edit, and print a document.	Good Knows that the features exist, but needs to be reminded which features are in which menu.	Fair Requires reminder as to what features are available.	Poor Requires constant reminders and instruction to use any menu item.
Writing	Excellent Able to record events and thoughts in a logical manner using correct grammar and spelling..	Good Able to record some thoughts and events displaying some correct use of grammar and spelling.	Fair Requires reminders as to the task at hand.	Poor Requires additional instruction in order to express any of the concepts of the Preamble.
