Perfect Pushup 
This rubric will help students' assess performance of 90 degree push-ups. Each student will perform push-ups while their partner videos. Students must hit the 5 points. 1)Hands shoulder width, 2) fingers spread out, 3) 90 degree bend in elbows, 4) squeeze shoulder blades at bottom, 5) Press up.

Hands Shoulder width/90 degree bend

Exemplary

Students achieves a 90 degree bend in the elbows with the upper arms parallel to the floor with each repetition with good hand width.
Competent

Student achieves a 90 degree bend in the elbows on nearly all repetitions with good hand width.
Progressing

Students achieves a 90 degree bend in the elbows with the upper arms parallel to the floor with some repetitions.. Hands too close for full movement.
Competency Not Yet Met

Student does not achieve a 90 degree bend in the elbow on any repetition and no idea where hands should be.
Arm Extension/Fingers spread

Exemplary

Student fully extends arms with each repetition. With fingers spread properly.
Competent

Student fully extends arms on nearly all repetitions. With fingers spread properly.
Progressing

Student fully extends arms with some repetitions. Fingers still not spread properly.
Competency Not Yet Met

Student does not fully extend arms on any repetition. No understanding about how arms and fingers should be placed.
Body Position

Exemplary

Student maintains proper body position, keeping a straight line from head to toes throughout the test.
Competent

Students maintains proper body position for a portion of the test.
Progressing

Students maintains proper body position for a portion of the test. Body alignment changes as test progresses. Beigns to arch back, raise glutes, twist body or shoulders lose alignment with wrists (shift weight forward or back)
Competency Not Yet Met

Student fails to maintain proper body position throughout the test. Body is not aligned from head to toe. Has arch in back, raised glutes, body twists or shoulders not in alignment with wrists .

Exemplary

Student maintains a rhythmic pace staying with the up/down cadence. Squeezing shoulder blades at the bottom.
Competent

Student maintains rhythmic pace/cadence for the majority of the test period. Pauses no more than once while maintaining good squeeze at the bottom.
Progressing

Student maintains rhythmic pace/cadence for a portion of the test period. Pauses more than once. Not squeezing at the bottom.
Competency Not Yet Met

Student frequently stops to rest and is unable to maintain a rhythmic pace during the test period. No good movement.
Press up

Exemplary

Student finishes at the top in good positioning ready for the next rep.
Competent

Student finishes at the top ready for the next rep but has a little too much movement.
Progressing

Student maintains good form all the way to the bottom but cannot properly press up to the top.
Competency Not Yet Met

Student needs work on muscular strength/endurance to be able to perform the movement properly.
