Illustrations	Poor Student made no effort to illustrate book. Pictures are scribbles and the student did not use any cut out pictures.	Fair At least half of the illustrations in book show effort. The other half are scribbles.	Good At least three quarters of the the illustrations are quality. Student utilized all picture resources for the book.	Great All of the pictures are quality. Student used available resources to make the book stand out.
Writing	Poor Student was reluctant to dictate information to teacher to summarize pictures.	Fair Student dictated information to teacher, but it was irrelevant to the topic of pets.	Good Student dictated relevant information to the teacher.	Great Student dictated relevant information to the teacher and attempted to write sight words on their own.
Content	Poor Student did not attempt to put any content from the unit into the book.	Fair The student used some content knowledge from the unit in the book.	Good The student used content almost everywhere in the book.	Great There was content used throughout the book.
