Can drop serve with mastery, and manipulate the speed of service to gain an advantage over an opponent

Attempts to engage in returning the ball, however does not keep the ball in play

Demonstrates body position and racket swing to keep the ball in play, yet remains inconsistent

Consistently returns the ball back in to play and readies themselves for the next ball

Consistently returns the ball into different areas of the court in order to move opponent and gain a winning position during a rally
Accuracy

Beginning

Has very little accuracy, hits target area less than 50% of the time.
Consolidating

Has decent accuracy when drop serving, hits target area about 60% of the time.
Established

Has good accuracy, hits target area about 75% of the time.
Advanced

Has a near perfect accuracy rate and hits target area at least 90% of the time.
Effort

Beginning

Shows little or no interest in learning the correct way of drop serving a tennis ball, practicing skill challenges, and playing skill games.
Consolidating

Shows moderate interest in learning how to drop serve a tennis ball, practicing skill challenges, and playing skill games.
Established

Has put forth a good effort and tries to drop serve correctly to the opposite tennis serving area, practicing skill challenges, and playing skill games.
Advanced

Plays at a high level and can assist others in their skill learning
