Wood Project
	Mastered 4 pts	Skilled 3 pts	Competent 2 pts	Learning 1 pts
Floor	Mastered Measurements are accurate. Floorboards are even. Frame is square.	Skilled 1 or 2 small measurement errors. Floorboards are nearly even. Frame is slightly out of square.	Competent A few large errors. Very little accuracy in following plans. Floorboards are not even. Frame is noticeably out of square.	Learning No attention to measurements. Virtually no reference to plans and process.
Walls	Mastered Outside surface is flush. Boards overhang 1/2" at corners and alternate lap. Measurements are accurate.	Skilled Boards are mostly flush. 1 or 2 boards do not overhang 1/2". Corners lap correctly.	Competent Several boards are not flush. Corners do not lap correctly. Door size is incorrect.	Learning Walls have been constructed haphazardly with little or no attention to detail.
Roof	Mastered Gable ends are accurate. Shingles are straight and correct size. No staples visible. Shingles are in good condition.	Skilled Gable ends slightly out of alignment. 1 or 2 staples visible. Shingles are mostly straight.	Competent Ridge is crooked due to gable ends being misplaced. Shingles are mostly NOT straight. Numerous staples are visible.	Learning No reference to the instructions or drawings. Parts of the roof are not covered with shingles. Shingles are bent and damaged. Staples are showing all over.
Finish	Mastered Wood is burnt evenly for visual appeal. All exposed wood is protected with linseed oil.	Skilled Wood has been burnt slightly unevenly. Some corner laps do not have linseed oil.	Competent Wood has been to black in some spots, while others have been missed entirely. Very little oil has been used.	Learning Burning is extremely uneven. Virtually no oil.
Appearance	Mastered No staples or nails visible. Customization is creative, original, and consistent with overall style of cabin. Project looks professional. Materials selected are near perfect.	Skilled 2 or 3 staples/nails visible. Customization is somewhat creative. Project looks sale worthy at a store. Some materials are defective.	Competent Lots of staples/nails are visible. Customization is generic/common. Project is sale worthy at a garage sale. Lots of materials used are defective.	Learning Staples/nails have blown out all over and are highly visible. Little or no customization. Not sale worthy. Virtually no effort has been made to make the project look good.
