Rubric for Writing a History Paper For this particular paper, the student will read and analyze the 1981 and 1985 inaugural addresses of President Ronald Reagan. I am expecting the students to cite and quote from both of these addresses, and answer the questions I have provided for them. Students will be using the Chicago/Turabian style for footnotes, formatting, and bibliography for this paper. Content of Paper	Poor The student does not have a firm grasp of the paper topic at hand. Student did not express an interest in the writing of this paper. Good The student was very interested in the paper topic and demonstrated satisfactory understanding of the topic.	Outstanding The student exceeded the teacher's expectations in both his understanding and interest in this paper.
Structure	Poor The paper does not flow, arguements are weak, and/or the paper is just not long enough.	Fair It is slightly difficult to follow the student's points, the arguments are not as strong as they could be.	Good The paper flows and the arguments are well presented.	Outstanding The paper flows very well and the arguments are clear and thorough.
Grammar and Spelling	Poor There is an exceedingly high number of grammatical and spelling errors in this paper.	Fair The paper has a substantial number of spelling and grammatical errors.	Good The paper contains only a few spelling and grammatical errors.	Outstanding This paper is free of grammatical and spelling errors.
