Response Paper Criteria
	Excellent 4 pts	Good 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor 1 pts
Personal Response	Excellent Student has shown a close association between the reading and their personal life. Describes a significant instance in which the student felt discriminated against and gives ample detail of the event.	Good Student has shown an association between the reading and their personal life. Describes an adequate event in which the student felt discriminated against, gives adequate detail.	Fair Student has shown some association between the reading and their personal life. Has tried to write about a time in which they felt discriminated against.	Poor Student has shown little association between the reading and their personal life. The event described is not really one of discrimination.
Author's Intent	Excellent Student's purpose is clearly recognizable.	Good Student's intended purpose is recognizable.	Fair Student does not seem to have focus or purpose to their writing.	Poor Student has vaguely attempted to achieve focus and purpose in their writing.
Supporting Evidence	Excellent Student has well documented support of opinions and points of view.	Good Student has documented support of opinions and views.	Fair Student has little documented support of opinions and views.	Poor Student has no documented support of opinions and views
Grammar and Mechanics	Excellent No errors in grammar and mechanics.	Good 1-2 errors in grammar and mechanics.	Fair 3-4 errors in grammar and mechanics.	Poor Enough errors in grammar and mechanics so as to impede understanding.
