Class Observations: Participation Performance
CLASS ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION
Regular attendance and active class participation are expected from all students in this class. This rubric will be used to assess your performance in this area and calculated twice during the 9 week grading period.

PREPARATION
Poor
UNACCEPTABLE to POOR:
(Improvement Needed)
Student was repeatedly unprepared for class; without materials/supplies etc. needed. Class assignments/quizzes are not fully completed or fail to turn in on time or perhaps not at all.
Fair
FAIR to GOOD:
Student was somewhat prepared with most of the required materials on hand. May have needed extra time to complete assignments before turning them in.

MEETS EXPECTATIONS to VERY GOOD:
Student was usually prepared for class with assignments completed in a timely manner and necessary materials on hand. Student may need to improve on being more responsible for supplies and/or turning in work.
Excellent
GREAT to EXCELLENT:
Student is always ready for class with necessary supplies on hand and assignments, handouts, etc. completed and turned in on time. Student is responsible and independently prepared.
TIME MANAGEMENT
Poor
UNACCEPTABLE to POOR:
(Improvement Needed)
Student did not use time in an overall productive way the majority of time during class. This may be due to excessive talking, out of seat unnecessarily, etc.

FAIR to GOOD:
Student struggled with managing time wisely and staying on task but, with direction would usually get back on track. Student often wasted time by asking questions that had already been addressed during instruction.

MEETS EXPECTATIONS to VERY GOOD:
Student was usually on track with work and used time wisely during most class sessions. Student sometimes asked questions that had already been addressed or often wanted constant teacher evaluation rather than use time to wisely assess own work.
Excellent
GREAT to EXCELLENT:
Student was able to independently stay on track with work and use time wisely during majority to all class sessions. Student patiently reflected on challenges of assignment at hand rather than waste class time with excessive questions for direction.
LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT AND BEHAVIOR
Poor
UNACCEPTABLE to POOR:
(Improvement Needed)
Student generally lacked enthusiasm for class activities, projects, discussions, etc.
Sleeping during class, studies related to other classes and/or overall disregard for lesson assignments have been observed more than twice.
Fair
FAIR to GOOD:
Student participated in class, but usually needed prompting and was generally reluctant to engage productively. Overall disappointing use of class time, however, improvements have been noted.

MEETS EXPECTATIONS to VERY GOOD:
Student often partipated freely in class, asked questions, and engaged productively in class activities, projects, discussions and work. Group work with peers was performed cooperatively.
Excellent
GREAT to EXCELLENT:
Student brought self- motivated participation to daily class lessons, activities and assignments. Student was fully engaged and actively involved during most to all lessons.
WORK ETHIC/COOPERATIVE PERFORMANCE

UNACCEPTABLE to POOR:
(Improvement Needed)
Student usually displayed a poor or negative attitude toward the task at hand. Instructions were generally not well followed and/or redirection was not usually successful in changing level of cooperation.
Fair
FAIR to GOOD:
Student displayed less than positive overall attitude toward projects, assignments, and general class work. However, student did complete work and was usually able to be redirected when needed.
Good
MEETS EXPECTATIONS to VERY GOOD:
Student often displayed positive work ethic/attitude toward project, assignments, etc. Instruction was generally incorporated accurately and redirection was rarely needed.
Excellent
GREAT to EXCELLENT:
Student displayed a positive approach to assignment work, etc. i
n majority to all class sessions. Student works diligently to accurately incorporate lesson instruction and objectives.
