Students are to apply the musical terms they have learned thus far in an analysis of a musical piece of their choice. The purpose is to encourage the students to write about and listen to music intelligently and deliberately.

The analysis includes all of the elements, student shows clear understanding of the terms and the analysis enable the reader to have a clear audio image of the piece without listening to it.
