A one page summary and critique of an article concerning a current educational trend or issue. Students are required to read the article, summarize the key parts of the article as well as critique the article read.

The student does not construct a generalized judgement about the article or constructs one that is not at all supported by the specifics submitted.
Fair

The student constructs a generalized judgement about the article that has some relationship to the specifics that have been identified in the article, however, the specifics (content, organization, conclusions) do not totally support the generalization.
Good

The student constructs a valid generalized judgement about the article and clearly explains why the judgement is based on specifics (content, organization, conclusions) that have been identified from the article.
Written Communication

Poor

The submitted assignment demonstrates little or no attention to the use of necessary conventions of writing(spelling, grammar, organization).
Fair

The submitted assignment has moderately communicated efficiently in written form.
Good

The student uses all necessary conventions of writing (spelling, grammar, organization) without error or with few errors.
