Improving Balance Skills
	Beginning 1 pts	Developing 2 pts	Proficient 3 pts	Excellent 4 pts
Functional Basic Mobility	Beginning Student walks with no support on uneven surfaces (i.e. ramps, wood chips, gravel).	Developing Student walks in line with the other students following good line basics (i.e. follow at a good pace, stop and wait when needed).	Proficient Student walks around obstacles and other students in the classroom and hallways.	Excellent Student walks independently in the classroom on all surfaces.
Improve Standing Balance	Beginning Standing on 1 foot for 3 seconds on both sides.	Developing While standing, kick a ball with either foot.	Proficient While standing unsupported, catch a ball thrown from 5 feet away.	Excellent While standing unsupported, throw a ball toward target 5 feet away.
Improve Dynamic Balance	Beginning Jump down from a stable object 12 inches high, landing with one foot or two feet at a time.	Developing Jump up with both feet leaving the ground.	Proficient Step over obstacles that are at least 2 inches high with either leg.	Excellent Walk heel to toe on a line with no support.
Putting it All Together	Beginning Walking up and down stairs placing one foot on each step.	Developing Run with reciprocal arm movement.	Proficient Walking up and down stairs placing both feet on each step.	Excellent Hop on one foot on both sides.
MARKS	Beginning D = 7-8 pts E = below 8pts	Developing C = 9 pts	Proficient B = 10-12 pts	Excellent A = 13-16 pts
