Beginning Student may be able to demonstrate knowledge by distinguishing the hour hand from the minute hand.
To the half hour	Exceptional Student demonstrates knowledge of half past the hour with no more then 1 error out of ten.	Accomplished Student demonstrates knowledge of half past the hour with with few errors.	Acceptable Student shows knowledge of which hand is which by demonstrating that the minute hand always points to the 6 at half past.	Beginning Student may be able to demonstrate knowledge by distinguishing the hour hand from the minute hand.
To the 5 minute intervals	Exceptional Student demonstrates knowledge of time in 5 minute intervals with no more then 1 error out of ten.	Accomplished Student demonstrates knowledge of time in 5 minute intervals with few errors.	Acceptable Student shows knowledge of which hand is which by demonstrating counting by 5's when the minute hand is on a number.	Beginning Student may be able to demonstrate knowledge by distinguishing the hour hand from the minute hand.
Quarter til/after	Exceptional Student demonstrates knowledge of quarter til/after with no more then 1 error out of ten.	Accomplished Student demonstrates knowledge of quarter til/after with few errors.	Acceptable Student shows knowledge of which hand is which by demonstrating that a quarter represents 15 minutes.	Beginning Student may be able to demonstrate knowledge by distinguishing the hour hand from the minute hand.
To the minute	Exceptional Student demonstrates knowledge of time to the minute with no more then 1 error out of ten.	Accomplished Student shows knowledge of which hand is which and demonstrates time to the minute with few errors.	Acceptable Student shows knowledge of which hand is which by demonstrating counting by 5's to the nearest number and then count by ones.	Beginning Student may be able to demonstrate knowledge by distinguishing the hour hand from the minute hand.
