Art	Does Not Meet Expectations Student used stick figures and/or did not use color. Drawing shows minimal effort. Drawing does not relate to the portion of the story.	Approaching Expectations Student demonstrated some effort, but did not use color. The drawing is reflective of the book as a whole, but not the specific portion of the story.	Meets Expectations Drawing demonstrates good effort, is neat, and includes color. Drawing does relate to the specific part of the story.	Exceeds Expectations Student demonstrates exceptional effort to make the art beautiful, neat, and appropriate. Student uses color and shading to enhance the story board. Drawings relate to specific parts of the story.
Content	Does Not Meet Expectations Student is missing one of the required literary elements.	Approaching Expectations Student writes minimally about character, conflict, and plot for each portion of the story.	Meets Expectations Student writing includes full sentences that describe character, conflict and plot in each portion of the story.	Exceeds Expectations Student writing includes full sentences that describe character, conflict, plot, and theme in the story. Theme may be what the characters are learning.
