Chuck Close Project

First objective: Using Optical mixing, student uses achromatic values within each square, when seen from afar these values should combine to make the viewer see the true value of that square and also the artist image. Close up the value decisions and shapes should not blend, tyhe viwer sees them as individual abstractions and not the image the artist was working from.

Craft

working square by square not simply painting over large amounts of squares to complete sections. Paint should not be thin and transparent. Correct transfering of image and grid. Proportions should be close to 8.5 by 11 inches. If square 8.5 by 8.5

Student took the time to obtain near perfect craft. all edges are extremelly hard edge and white spaces do not have smears or smudges. Paint covers are smooth and solid, you can not see the white of the bristol board coming through. Mounting of scales is evenly measured and flat to matte board. has project label on back of boards.
