Introductions Students will communicate greetings and introduce themselves, and ask about others.

Greeting Students greet others properly ¡Hola! ¡Buenos días! or ¡Buenas Tardes!	Beginning No greeting, little-to-no effort.	Approaching Proper greeting, poor pronunciation, or Improper greeting, but good effort and pronunciation.	Proficient Proper greeting with near-perfect pronunciation.	Advanced Proper greeting with excellent pronunciation.
My name is... Students properly state "My name is..." Me llamo...	Beginning Improper statement, or none at all.	Approaching Proper statement, poor pronunciation, or Improper statement, but good effort and pronunciation.	Proficient Proper introduction with near-perfect pronunciation.	Advanced Proper introduction with excellent pronunciation.
Inquiry - How are you doing? Students inquire of the other person, How are you "¿Cómo estas?"	Beginning Improper statement, or none at all.	Approaching Students inquire of the other person, How are you? Or What are you like? With acceptable-poor pronunciation.	Proficient Students inquire of the other person, How are you? Or What are you like? With good pronunciation and genuine interest.	Advanced Students inquire of the other person, How are you? Or What are you like? With excellent pronunciation and grammar.
Use of Informal & Formal Students properly differentiate informal and formal greetings.	Beginning Improper statement, or none at all.	Approaching Student answer with informal greeting only.	Proficient Student use both differentiation inappropriately.	Advanced Student reply with proper differentiation.
Latino Population in US Students will identify two states with a latino population.	Beginning Incorrect cannot respond.	Approaching Student will identify one state only.	Proficient Student can identify two states in English	Advanced Student can identify two states in Spanish.
