Epic Rap Battles Epic Rap Battles of 9th Grade! This rubric assesses the creative use of figurative language and ability to identify and exploit rhyming schemes and poetry styles. Students will create a rap battle utilizing authors, characters, sports teams, video games, etc. to battle each other revealing the opposing sides' traits, style, and using multiple figurative language techniques and ideas. Epic Rap Battle This demonstrates the creative use of figurative language and ability to identify and exploit rhyming schemes and poetry styles.
	Unacceptable Fails to meet requirements, expectaitons 1 pts	Novice Well below expectations, just barely acceptable. 3 pts	Apprentice Near to minimum expectations. 4 pts	Proficient Shows understanding and ability to apply. 5 pts	Superior Shows mastery and exceeds expectations. 6 pts
Figurative Language Usage 3 pts Minimum amount of Figurative language usage.	Unacceptable Side portrayed has at 1 or fewer usages of different figurative language types.	Novice Side portrayed has at least 2 usages of different figurative language types.	Apprentice Side portrayed has at least 3 usages of different figurative language types.	Proficient Side portrayed has at least 4 usages of different figurative language types.	Superior Side portrayed has at least 5 usages of different figurative language types.
Ryming scheme 2 pts Usage of Rhyming scheme/style.	Unacceptable Side portrayed may have used a rhyming scheme.	Novice Side portrayed utilizes 1 unique poetry scheme, and explains rhyming scheme in the header.	Apprentice Side portrayed utilizes 2 unique poetry schemes, and explains rhyming schemes in the header.	Proficient Side portrayed utilizes 3 unique poetry schemes, and explains rhyming schemes in the header.	Superior Side portrayed utilizes 3 unique poetry schemes, and explains rhyming schemes in the header. Also, rhymes show care and consideration was used.
