Note Accuracy	Just Beginning Wrong notes dominate the passage.	Needs Work Several errors occur. Overall there are many wrong notes.	Average Occasional note is missed. Basic Tonality can be heard.	Excellent Few notes are missed. Mistakes do not detract from music. There are very few wrong notes.	Superior Excellent accuracy. No mistakes were made, therefore music was performed as written.
Rhythm	Just Beginning No sense of pulse. Rhythms are incorrect. Unable to show basic understanding of Relationships between different Rhythms.	Needs Work Inconsistant pulse. Most rhythms are incorrect.	Average Basic sense of pulse. Some rhythms are incorrect.	Excellent Secure pulse with minor rhythmic problems	Superior Strong sense of pulse. All rhythms performed accurately
Tone Quality	Just Beginning Poor sound. Needs more bow, better weight distribution, needs better contact point. Keep left hand secure for good sound	Needs Work Sound not developed. Keep working towards more volume and consistancy in tone	Average Tone is generally consistant. Continue to expand on good bow principles	Excellent Tone is developed. Good basic use of the bow and left hand.	Superior Tone is excellent. Great use and distribution of the bow. Steady contact point, good arm weight.
Intonation	Just Beginning Passage is completely out of tune and outside of the key signature.	Needs Work Most notes are out of the designated key signature. Missed accidentals	Average Some notes are out of tune. Finger placement is not as accurate within the key signature	Excellent Notes are placed properly with some adjusting needed.	Superior Accurate playing within the designated key signature and all accidentals are correct.
