Value and Color

Unacceptable

Composition lacks any forethought of color or knowledge of value changes in relation to position of lighting. Only the contour lines of the objects and details are present, composition completely devoid of value/ color or scribbled on.
Not Yet Meets Expectations

Areas of blank paper are visible with no value or color present. Little difference in value, contrast, or color exists in the artwork. If value if present it is value is the same gray or smudged. If colored, the coloring is in several directions and messy.
Minimally Meets Expectations

The compositions color scheme or value range shows some forethought and planning, but is awkward or illogical (does not show light source). At least 3 values and/or colors are present.
Fully Meets Expectations

Most of the composition shows use of elements and principles of art; very Value or color is strong, details are clear and drawn neatly for close objects and lighter for far away objects. At least 4 values and/or colors are present.
Exceeds Expectations

Entire space shows strong evidence of knowledge of elements and principles of art. All Objects further away are smaller and still have details. At least 5 values and/or colors are present.
converging lines

Unacceptable

No converging lines in picture, they do not converge at the vanishing point.
Not Yet Meets Expectations

Lines converge across the horizontal plane, but either do not go to the vanishing point or are otherwise incorrect in their perspective.
Minimally Meets Expectations

Some knowledge of linear perspective concepts. A few objects have planes and surfaces that accurately recede and converge at the vanishing point to create a convincing illusion of depth.
Fully Meets Expectations

Adequate knowledge of linear perspective concepts. Several objects have planes and surfaces that accurately recede and converge at the vanishing point to create a convincing illusion of depth.
Exceeds Expectations

Advanced knowledge of linear perspective concepts. Many and varied objects have several planes and surfaces that accurately recede and converge at the vanishing point to create a convincing illusion of depth.
detail

Unacceptable

Only solid shapes, no detail in picture. The objects placed in the room do not have a logical relationship to each other and are randomly chosen and placed with no intent by the designer.
Not Yet Meets Expectations

One or two close objects are detailed. The rest of the objects are solid shapes. Only a few of the objects chosen reflect the character of the room design intended and therefore the designer's intent was not successful.
Minimally Meets Expectations

Half of the close objects have more detail than far away objects. Some of the objects chosen reflect the character of the room design, therefore the designer's intent is not clear.
Fully Meets Expectations

Close objects have more detail than objects further away from viewer. Most of the objects chosen reflect the character of the room design and the designer's intent.
Exceeds Expectations

Close objects have incredible detail, shading, and shadowing. Detail gradually becomes less and less as the objects get further away from the viewer. Objects chosen reflect the character of the room design and the designer's intent.
overlapping and placement

Unacceptable

No objects overlap in picture and/or all objects are on the same plane in picture resulting in no illusion of depth.
Not Yet Meets Expectations

Only has one set of overlapping objects and/or objects in two of the following: foreground, middle ground, and background and the illusion of depth is not convincing.
Minimally Meets Expectations

Has at least 2 sets of overlapping objects and at least one object is visible in each of the following: foreground, middle ground, and background showing that there is some depth within the picture plane.
Fully Meets Expectations

Has at least 4 sets of overlapping objects and at least three different objects are visible in each of the following: foreground, middle ground, and background showing some knowledge of the execution of the illusion of depth.
Exceeds Expectations

Has 8 or more sets of overlapping objects and a variety of different objects are visible in each of the following: foreground, middle ground, and background showing excellent execution of the illusion of depth.
