	Emerging 1 pts	Basic 2 pts	Proficient 3 pts	Advanced 4 pts
Dexterity/Coordination	Emerging Student holds mallet(s) improperly, preventing successful production of sound.	Basic Student holds mallet(s) incorrectly or strikes the bars improperly, but manages production of sound.	Proficient Student holds mallet(s) correctly and produces desired sound through correct striking, but not consistently	Advanced Student holds mallet(s) correctly and strikes properly, producing the desired sound.
Note Accuracy	Emerging Student does not play any recognizable portion of the song.	Basic Student plays a portion of the song accurately, but other parts are unclear.	Proficient Student plays the song correctly with minor rhythmic and melodic inaccuracies.	Advanced Student plays song nearly perfectly, with very few mistakes in rhythm or melody.
Respectful Care	Emerging Student treats instrument/components negligently with disregard to value, jeopardizing the integrity and wholeness of the instrument/component.	Basic Student is clumsy with instrument/components, though not willfully negligent.	Proficient Student rarely fumbles or accidentally mistreats the instrument/components.	Advanced Student treats instrument/components with care and respect, being careful not to damage any part and placing components in their proper places.
