ELD Biographical Narrative based on interview After interviewing someone who took a risk in their life, students will write a biographical narrative from the interview. Rubric Code: RBB5B By calfam04 Draft Public Rubric Subject: English Type: Writing Grade Levels: 9-12

Paragraphs	Poor Intro paragraph either does not introduce the subject or explain what the risk was that they took. Little connection or transition to the body paragraphs. Has less than three paragraphs.	Fair Some mention is made of the subject and their risk, but flow into body paragraphs is not smooth. Not all three paragaphs are present.	Good Subject is mentioned in intro and reader has a good idea what the body paragraphs will go into more detail about. Some evidence of a conclusion paragraph. Is at least 3 paragraphs in length.	Excellent Intro paragraph clearly introduces both the subject and what risk they took as described in the body paragraphs. Includes a conclusion paragraph. Contains 3-5 paragrapsh.
Chronological Order	Poor Chronological order of events is not clear.	Fair Some chronological order of events is present, but may contain a few confusing parts.	Good Chronological order is fairly strong, but may have one or two confusing sentences.	Excellent Entire narrative is clear chronologically.
Use of Pronouns	Poor Many misused pronouns.	Fair Several misused pronouns.	Good One or two misused pronouns.	Excellent All pronouns referring to subject are correct.
Quotation	Poor Does not use a quotation from the interview.	Fair Attempts to use a quotation, but may be misplaced or incorrectly punctuated.	Good At least one quotation is used and punctuated correctly. May not be placed in the best possible location.	Excellent Quotations are used effectively and puctuated correctly.
