SCREENWRITING FINAL PROJECT
Script Project Rubric
Students will spend the semester creating an original screenplay as a final project. The script must be between 15 and 20 pages, and typed in standard screenplay format. Students are allowed to choose their topic, genre, etc. and will be given opportunities throughout the semester to get on-going feedback in class.

The story is dynamic, engaging, and original. The student created a unique and well-developed story. All of the sentences are the student's own.
Good
The story is original and interesting, though some parts may not have been fully developed or explored. All of the sentences are the student's own.
Fair
Much of the script was not developed or thought out well. All of the sentences are the student's own.
Poor
The script is not original, is not developed, and does not hold the audience's attention. All of the sentences are the student's own.
Mechanics
20 pts.
Excellent
Writer has completely correct formatting, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
Good
Writer has all but a few correct formatting, spelling, punctuation and grammar.
Fair
Writing has most correct formatting, spelling punctuation, and grammar.
Poor
Writer has little to no correct formatting, spelling, punctuation, or grammar.
Organization
20 pts.
Excellent
The script is written in an organized fashion.
The story line is presented clearly. The script follows the plot structure discussed in class (i.e. inciting incident, rising action, climax, etc.).
Good
The script is somewhat organized. Thought was put into the organization of the plot, though some parts are not clear or thought out as well.
Fair
The script is not well organized. The plot does not follow the structure discussed in class.
Poor
The script is unorganized. The audience has trouble following the plot and/or the student has little to no plot involved.
Length
20 pts.
Excellent
The script is NOT LESS THAN 15 pages in length.
Good
The script is at least 10 to 15 pages long.
Fair
The script is between 5 and 10 pages long.
Poor
The script is less than five pages in length.
