Essay adheres to no apprent format; introduction and conclusion are indistinguishable. Paragraphs are unstructured.
Level 2

Essay strays from standard format; introduction and conclusion are weak. Paragraphs are somewhat unclear.
Level 3

Essay adheres to the format, with a satisfactory introduction and conclusion. Paragraphs are arranged coherently.
Level 4

Essay fits the five-paragraph format, with a strong introduction and conclusion. Paragraphs flow in a coherent and logical manner.
Language

The writer uses appropraite language for their audience, varies their word choices, with proper spelling ang grammar.

Language is unclear and redundant with chronic grammar and spelling errors.
