Occupation Presentation Oral Presentation- Nonfiction Book Report Students will give a short oral presentation to small groups of their classmates several times in one class period. Non-Verbal Skills
	Beginning 2 pts	Developing 4 pts	Proficient 6 pts	Advanced 8 pts
Eye Contact	Beginning No eye contact with audience, as entire report is read from poster and/or notes.	Developing Displayed minimal eye contact with audience, while reading mostly from the poster and/or notes.	Proficient Consistent use of direct eye contact with audience, but still returns to poster and/or notes.	Advanced Holds attention of each small group audience member with the use of direct eye contact, seldom looking at poster and/or notes (if they have any).
Body Language	Beginning No or too much movement or descriptive gestures.	Developing Very little movement or descriptive gestures.	Proficient Made movements or gestures that enhances articulation.	Advanced Movements seem fluid and help the audience understand exactly what you are talking about.
Poise How confident did you seem?	Beginning Student's tension and nervousness is obvious; has trouble recovering from mistakes, is obviously not prepared.	Developing Student displays mild tension; has trouble recovering from mistakes.	Proficient Student makes minor mistakes, but quickly recovers from them; displays little or no tension.	Advanced Student displays relaxed, self-confident nature with no mistakes.
Verbal Skills

Enthusiasm Are you excited about the occupation you have chosen?	Beginning Student shows absolutely no interest in topic presented.	Developing Student shows some negativity toward topic presented.	Proficient Student occasionally shows positive feelings about topic.	Advanced Student demonstrates a strong, positive feeling about topic during entire presentation.
Elocution How well did you speak?	Beginning Student mumbles, incorrectly pronounces terms, and speaks too quietly for a majority of students to hear.	Developing Student’s voice is low and/or incorrectly pronounces terms. Audience members have difficulty hearing presentation.	Proficient Student’s voice is clear, pronounces most words correctly. Most audience members can hear presentation.	Advanced Student uses a clear voice and correct, precise pronunciation of terms so that all audience members can hear presentation.

Subject Knowledge Did you know the information about the occupation you have chosen?	Beginning Student does not have grasp of information; student cannot answer questions about subject.	Developing Student is uncomfortable with information and is able to answer only basic questions.	Proficient Student is at ease with answers to all questions, elaborates a little.	Advanced Student demonstrates full knowledge by answering all questions with explanations and elaboration.
Organization Does the order in which you talk about your occupation make sense?	Beginning Audience cannot understand presentation because there is no sequence of information.	Developing Audience has difficulty following presentation because student jumps from item to item in an order that does not make sense.	Proficient Student presents information in logical sequence which audience can follow.	Advanced Student presents information in logical, interesting sequence which audience can follow.

Your Audience Participation Were you a good listener during other's presentations	Beginning Student was rude and disrespectful during presentations. Asked irrelevant questions or constantly interrupted.	Developing Student was somewhat listening during presentations. Caused some interruptions.	Proficient Student listened and was respectful during presentations. Asked relevant questions and did not interrupt.	Advanced Student listened and was very attentive and respectful during presentations. Asked extremely relevant questions and did not interrupt.
Effort during preparation Did you work well during class or not?	Beginning Student did next to nothing during preparation time (5.5-6 class periods).	Developing Student did some during preparation time (5.5-6 class periods).	Proficient Student mostly work all of preparation time (5.5-6 class periods).	Advanced Student worked every minute of preparation time (5.5-6 class periods).
