Purpose	Good Author compares and contrasts two characters from the story, using many (4 or more) details.	Fair Author compares and contrasts two characters from the story, using some (2 or more) details.	Poor Author compares and contrasts two characters from the story, using few details.
Formatting	Good Format is completely correct (margins, paragraphs, etc.).	Fair Format is mostly correct.	Poor Formatting is attempted, but incorrect.
Spelling and Punctuation	Good Spelling and punctuation is completely correct.	Fair Spelling and punctuation is mostly correct.	Poor Spelling and punctuation is not correct. There are numerous errors.
Grammar	Good There are no grammar errors.	Fair There are few grammar errors.	Poor There are numerous grammar errors.
Writing Process	Good Prewriting, edited rough draft, rubric, and final draft are present.	Fair Three of the parts of the writing process are present.	Poor Two or more pieces are missing from the writing process.
