iRubric: Journal Writing Prompts Rubric

Entries follow reference sheet fully for each topic. Effort is evident. Responses show the student has put a great deal of thought into what he/she writes. Understands the prompt.

Entries mostly follow reference sheet. Student is on the right track and may need to make minor adjustments. Effort is evident. Entries are good and show the writer is thinking deeply about the topic and attempting to push toward more advanced ways of approaching the prompt.

Entries follow the reference sheet for 2 out of 3 prompts. Effort is there, but could use some improvement. Student has a complete entry, but may not be pushing his/her ideas toward original ways of looking at the topic.

Entries follow the reference sheet for 1 out of 3 prompts. Effort is lacking. Entry feels rushed and lacks much thought.

Entries do not follow the reference sheet. Effort is not evident. Entry is simplistic and off topic.
