Pastel Project
	Poor 4 pts	Fair 6 pts	Good 8 pts
Drawing	Poor Image was not drawn with pencil prior to adding pastels.	Fair Student attempted to sketch the image but did not take adequate time to plan the drawing.	Good Student took time to plan out where the image would be on the page as well as decided on an appropriate size for the image.
Color	Poor Only applied flat color. Colors used were only those of the pastels given. i.e. No blending of colors was used to create new colors.	Fair Some colors were blended together to create new colors. Other colors applied were flat and from the box of pastels.	Good Student took care in blending all colors together to create new colors.
Work Ethic	Poor Did not stay on task and / or show respect. Student used less than 60 minutes of class time to complete the work.	Fair Had some problems with staying on task and / or being respectful. Student actively used at least 60 minutes of class time to complete the work.	Good Stayed on task and was respectful to teacher, classroom materials, and artwork. Student actively used at least 80 minutes of class time to complete the work.
Neatness	Poor Overall product is very messy. There are an overwhelming amount of fingerprints. Pastels were not smoothed.	Fair Overall product has a lot of visible fingerprints. The piece looks grainy because the student did not take the time to smooth the pastels.	Good Overall product is looks neat. Minimal amount fingerprints are showing. The student took a lot of time to smooth out all of the colors used.
