Cell Project
You (or you and a partner) will come up with an analogy for the cell of your choice and its organelles. Your analogy will be represented in the form of a poster that represents a cell and its organelles. You should compare roles of 9-10 organelles to a part of the analogy.

Accuracy & Clarity

(10 Points)

Excellent

Your analogy is clear and your argument for your analogy makes sense.

Nine (9) or ten (10) of these organelles are included:
1.Nucleus
2.Mitochondria
3.Golgi Bodies
4.Ribosomes
5.ER
6.Lysosomes
7.Vacuoles
8.Cytoplasm
9.Cell Wall for a plant cell
10.Chloroplasts for a plant cell
Good

Your analogy is clear and your argument for your analogy is not quite clear.

(7) or (8) of the organelles are included.
Poor

Your analogy is not quite clear and the argument does not make sense.

(5) or (6) of the organelles are included.
Incomplete

Your analogy is not clear and your argument for your analogy does not make sense.

(4) or less of the organelles are included.
Organelles

(10 Points)

Excellent

Nine (9) or ten (10) of the organelles shown accurately doing these jobs in your analogy:

1.Nucleus- control center
2.Mitochondria- power source
3.Golgi- package/ship materials
4.Ribosomes- make protein
5.ER- move materials- move protein + lipids
Good

Seven (7) or eight (8) of the organelles are shown doing their jobs correctly

OR

Two (2) organelles are inaccurately shown doing their jobs in your analogy.

6.Lysosomes- clean up the cell, can destroy it
7.Vacuole- store water/waste/nutrients
8.Cytoplasm-fills cell, holds organelles in place
9.Cell Wall- protects/supports plants
10.Chloroplast - converts solar energy into chemical energy (glucose)
Poor

Five (5) or six (6) of the organelles are shown doing their jobs correctly

OR

Three (3) or more organelles are inaccurately shown doing their jobs in your analogy.
Incomplete

Four (4) or less of the organelles are shown doing their jobs correctly

OR

All organelles are inaccurately represented doing their jobs in your analogy.
Creativity

(5 Points)

Excellent

You (and a partner you worked with) came up with a cell project idea that is very original. You can tell that you put some time into thinking and planning this out.
Good

Your project is very similar to other student's however you found some different materials, pictures or ideas to describe the cell.
Poor

Your project does not show very much creativity at all. You just had to get it done.

OR

Parts of the project are not done. Missing pictures, etc.
Incomplete

Plagiarism of the project.
Completion and Organization

(5 Points)

Excellent

Your work looks finished. If it is written, most of the writing is either typed or gone over in ink. Any paper used is loose leaf. Any pictures you included are colored. There are not any other things you could do to make this project look a little nicer.
Good

You can find one (1) thing on this project that looks not finished yet such as:
-The writing is in pencil.
-Pictures are not colored.
- Paper is not loose leaf.
- Paper is wrinkled.
- Edges are torn, not cut.
- Parts are not labeled neatly.
- Etc...
Poor

You can find two (2) things on this project that looks not finished yet.
Incomplete

You can find three (3) things on this project that looks not finished yet.
