Football: Passing and Catching 
6th grade evaluation of the fundemental skill of passing and catching a football. Students are rated and scored on the mechanics of their passing and catching, not the number of dropped passes or target accurancy-completely.

Catching the Football

Does not attempt to bring the ball to the body. Misses over 75% of thrown footballs.

Gaining a consistency in hanging onto the ball and bringing the ball to the body.

Uses the big hands, reaches out, with diamond shape. Brings the ball in with soft hands.
Lacks the consistency on tucking in the football for protection.

Big hands, reach out, shape hands like a diamond. Use soft hands to cushion the ball.
Pull the ball into chest, protect the ball by tucking it into body or forearms.
