Written Artifacts Journal Entry Notebook Teachers are to use binders, notebooks and portfolios to support student learning on a consistent basis with a variety of consistent feedback. Rubric Code: QBA4B7 By tdickerson Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: English Type: Project Grade Levels: K-5, 6-8

Written Artifacts
	Excellent 3 pts	Good 2 pts	Poor 1 pts
Organized	Excellent Ideas are consistently organized logically and clearly in a meaningful manner across all sampled artifacts. Teacher has provided students with written directions for completion.	Good Ideas are inconsistently organized across sampled artifacts. Teacher has provided students with written directions for completion.	Poor Ideas are so inconsistent as to show little to no trace of organization acorss artifacts. Teacher may or may not have provided students with written directions for completion.
Student Understanding	Excellent Responses consistently show detailed understanding of curriculum focus and all sampled students have detailed examples written in a variety of ways (words, pictures, numbers, charts, graphs, etc.). Examples also show student extention of learning through additional notes/examples/summaries or interaction with material.	Good Responses show understanding of curriculum focus but student written examples aren't varied or show individual interaction with material.	Poor Responses inconsistently show understanding of curriculum focus; few, if any individual interaction with material.
Consistent Use	Excellent It is clearly evident that written artifacts are consistently utilized and are an intregal component of the daily curriculum focus.	Good It is evident that written artifacts are utilized, but there are some inconsistencies across sampled artifacts.	Poor There is no clear evidence that written artifacts are consistently used. Samples show spotty date patterns and lack of consistency with curriculum focus.
Feedback	Excellent It is clearly evident that teacher provides a variety of consistent feedback to students including, but not limited to grades, checks, peer review, or self assessments. It is also evident that student made corrections/changes based on feedback.	Good It is evident that teacher provides feedback on a consist basis. Some variation of feedback may exist.	Poor Little to no consistent feedback is provided.
