Audience for Writing	Poor audience is not defined and/or poorly developed content	Fair audience is defined, but content and style is lacking or inappropriate for chosen audience	Good audience is well defined; content and style are developed and appropriate for chosen audience
Format for Organization	Poor writing lacks a clear sense of direction; ideas, details, or events seem strung together in a loose or random fashion; there is no identifiable structure	Fair organizational structure is strong enough to move reader through text without too much confusion	Good organization enhances central idea and theme; order, structure, or presentation of information moves the reader through the text
Topic	Poor main ideas are not accurate, clear, or well developed	Fair main ideas are expressed, but lacks accuracy, clarity, or development	Good main ideas are accurate, clearly epressed, and well developed
