Scene is memorized. Delivered lines hold to what is written on your script. No prompting needed by teacher.
Rehearsal

Very little evidence of rehearsal observed by teacher. Consistently told by either teacher or partner to rehearse and remain focused. Arrived on first day of rehearsal without knowing any lines. Did not use rehearsal time effectively.
Fair

Evidence of rehearsal observed by teacher; however at times you were off task or had to be reminded by teacher or partner to focus. Arrived on first day of rehearsal without knowing many lines. Did not completely use rehearsal time effectively.

Evidence of rehearsal observed by teacher; you remained on task at all times and used your rehearsal time efficiently. Arrived on first day of rehearsal knowing all your lines. Worked very hard on all rehearsal days.

Uses volume, tone, and pace inappropriately or ineffectively; limited or no facial expressions. Unable to hear you perform.

Uses volume, tone, and pace somewhat to suit the your character and scene; some facial expressions are used occasionally; however, they are distracting or inappropriate to the character. At times you were difficult to hear or you mumbled.

Uses volume, tone, and pace appropriate to the character and scene; facial expressions suit the character
Excellent

You successfully used volume, tone, and pace to achieve a special effect or impact for your character and scene; facial expressions enhanced your character.
Believability of Character

Poor

Unable to bring a level of believability to your character (you played yourself). Lacked real interaction with your partner. Did not remain in character (looked at audience or teacher) throughout performance.
Fair

Believability of your character portrayal is inconsistent. Did not fully remain in character (at times(you paid attention to either the audience or teacher) during your performance.
Good

Demonstrates some believability of your character during your scene on a fairly consistent basis. Still lacking a deep connection to character and scene or inability to completely focus on your performance.
Excellent

Expertly demonstrates this unique character in during your performance. Level of investment in character conveys honest and truthful.
Movement/Blocking/Stage Directions

Poor

No attempt is made use physical mannerisms, gesture and body movement.
Fair

Employs very little gesture or body movement to define and/or enhance characterization.
Good

Strives to use some aspect of physical mannerisms, gesture and body movement to define character.
Excellent

Expertly demonstrates physical mannerisms, gestures and movement to define character.
