Story Without Words You will create a brief performance without words that physically tells the story of a character who is different from you in two of three ways: age, gender, and/or body type. Structure Piece should have a clear beginning, middle, and end that flow together. 15 POINTS	Exceptional The piece exhibits a clear and polished beginning, middle, and end and flows seamlessly. 15 POINTS	Strong The piece has some abrupt moments, but mostly flows smoothly from beginning to middle to end. 13 POINTS	Fair The piece has several abrupt moments and struggles to connect components of the story together. 11 POINTS	Poor The piece begins and ends abruptly or awkwardly with little connected content in the middle. 10 POINTS
Character Development Actor must depict two of the three following aspects that are different from themself: age, sex, body type. 20 POINTS	Exceptional Character clearly embodies 2 aspects different from that of the actor. Depth and range of emotion is expansive. Life and world of character is illuminated through actor's performance. Employs outstanding use of physical mannerisms, gestures, and body movement to define character's imaginary background. 20 POINTS	Strong 2 different aspects are specific and defined. Depth and range of emotion is very good. Life and world of character is clearly displayed through actor's performance. Employs very strong use of physical mannerisms, gestures, and body movement to define character's imaginary background. 17 POINTS	Fair 2 differing aspects are difficult to identify. Life and world of character is not present. Actor does little more than deliver lines. Employs little or ineffective physical mannerisms, gestures, and body movement to define character's background. 15 POINTS	Poor 2 different aspects are unidentifiable. Student is doing little more than reading from the book. Employs no physical mannerisms, gestures, or body movement to define the character. 13 POINTS
Duration Piece should last more than 2 minutes and less than 3 minutes. 15 POINTS	Exceptional Piece lasts more than 2 minutes and less than 3 minutes. 15 POINTS	Strong Piece lasts between 1 1/2 minutes and 2 minutes. 13 POINTS	Fair Piece lasts between 1 minute and 1 1/2 minutes. 11 POINTS	Poor Piece lasts under 1 minute or over 3 minutes. 10 POINTS
