Excellent

Correctly applied all the applications of Touch, Gliding, Effleurage, Kneading to the instructed area given by instructor. Used the correct part of the hand to apply techniques. Demonstrated smooth movement and transition.
Good

Touch, Gliding, Effleurage, Kneading applications is applied with minimal errors. Example: hand placement partially correct/hesitant in the techniques given. One to two forms of massage applications was not applied correctly or applied to the incorrect area of the body.
Needs Improvement

Three or more forms of massage applications was applied incorrectly, or not applied to the appropriate body area. Placements of hands were not consistent. Technique is erratic and unevenly placed.

Demonstration of correct posture and body mechanics

Demonstrates proper body mechanics using horse/archer stance. Proper hand and arms angles are in alignment with the massage application. Avoids upper body strain.

Student's body mechanics is not consistent. Not aware of improperly touching the client with a private area of their body.
Needs Improvement

Proper body mechanics needs improvement. During the massage application student repeatedly displayed a lack of awareness of proper positioning of hands/arms and placement of feet.
Draping Skills

Demonstrate correct procedures for draping
Excellent

Performs proper draping skills, by covering the client for privacy. Procedure for turning client over is correct. Communicates with the client proper instructions for turning over.
Good

Draping skills were acceptable with minimal amount of client exposure. Communication cues were not given correctly to the client.
Needs Improvement

Client's privacy and security is not intact.
Communication for turning over is not given.
Proper Positioning

Client/Bolster/Face Rest
Excellent

Proper positioning of client, bolsters and face rest displayed.
Good

Bolstering and face rest positioning needs practice. Student forgot placement of client/face rest/bolster once during the massage application.
Needs Improvement

Bolstering under the client's knees/ankles or face rest is not in position when needed during the massage application more than once during the massage application.

Demonstrated one hand contact throughout testing.

Hand contact with client was interupted (+2).

Student was consistently placing hands off the client in between kneading techniques. (+3)
