Body System Powerpoint
Students in Honors Anatomy and Physiology summarize the key concepts and processes involved in a specific body system and present the powerpoint for their classmates. Graphics/photos must be used within the slide show. They must also submit quiz questions which will be given as a followup assessment after their lesson.

Most concepts and processes are clear and there are only minor errors. The functions are matched to the parts and an attempt at explaining integration is made. The material provides an adequate review of the topic but may require some supplementation.
Novice
Concepts and processes are not clear. There are errors which impede key understanding. The parts are defined but functions are not explained well.
Powerpoint format (10%)
Expert
Slide format shows originality and a personal touch. The background and effects do not detract from the content. Writing is distilled but not just bulleted. Graphics and photos are appropriate, harmonious and balanced well with the written material.
Intermediate
Slides show some originality. The background does not detract from the content though some effects may be intrusive. Writing may be overly wordy or too brief. Graphics or photos may be out of balance with the written material but are still useful for teaching the concept.
Novice
There is little to no evidence of originality. The background and or effects are distracting. Writing is confusing in its format. Graphics or photos are not helpful to understanding the topic.

Expert
Questions are focused on essential knowledge. Questions require analytical thought, and application, not just rote factual recall.
Intermediate
Questions involve the essential knowledge. Moat questions require application. A few may be more recall. than analytical.
Novice
Questions are simplistic and more fact based with little application or analytical thought required.
Checkpoint questions( 5%)
Expert
At least 3 slides are included which provide checkpoint questions to assess learning. Questions are thoughtful, requiring analysis or synthesis and are varied in format.
Intermediate
At least 2 slides are included which provide checkpoint questions to assess learning.
Questions are basic in nature and may not be varied in format.
Novice
No checkpoint questions are included on any slides.
Presentation (25%)
Expert
Presentation is clear and shows a sophisticated understanding of all components- the presenter knows the information so well the teacher does not have to supplement or intervene to correct anything at all. All questions can be answered with clarity.
Intermediate
Presentation is clear and shows a basic understanding of all components- the presenter knows the system fairly well but the teacher may have to supplement or intervene to correct some points. Most questions can be answered with clarity.
Novice
Presentation is unclear and shows a lack of understanding in some components-the presenter does not know the system and makes many mistakes requiring intervention by the teacher. Many questions can not be answered.
