Rubric to assess the design and graphic work of students in Design studio class. Includes all major categories for assessment in a visual layout as well as craft of work. Also includes rubric for a physical model.

Overall Appearance
Excellent
Paper is clean and clear of any smudges and/or stray lines. The drawing is centered in the middle of the paper and the boarder is spaced evenly from the edges.
Acceptable
There are some smudges from the use of dirty equipment. The drawing is off of center a little and an edge or two may be torn due to removal of drafting tape.
Unacceptable
The drawing is not centered on the paper and crosses outside of the boarder. The paper looks dirty and there are stray lines. The paper is torn in several places.
Completeness
Excellent
All necessary detail are contained within the drawing.
Acceptable
There are some (3- 5) details missing from the drawing.
Unacceptable
There are many details missing from the drawing (+5)
Accruacy
Excellent
All information is included in its correct location and at its correct scale according to the project directions.
Acceptable
Some details are not drawn to the correct size and cause only minor mistakes to the rest of the drawing.

There are a significant number of scaling errors or misplaced details. These mistakes may cause the rest of the drawing to be off to some extent.

Craft

Lines are drawn cleanly. The lines are also straight and the drawing equipment was used during the final draft of the presentation.
Acceptable
Some line are jagged because a straight edge was not used. There are few areas where some smudges of color are apparent.
Unacceptable
Color was sloppily placed on the drawing No straight edges were used when drawing the layout and as a result the lines are choppy and crooked.

The model is very well put together. The amount of effort put into making the model is clearly apparent.

There are a few smudges and wrinkles in the model.

The model is poorly built and falls apart. Most edges to not fit tightly together.
Craft
Excellent
Cuts are cleanly made with a sharp knife and a straight edge. The edges and corners fit together nicely and there is no excess glue or paper overhanging the edges.
Acceptable
Some cuts are jagged because a straight edge was not used. There are few areas where some smudges of color are apparent and over aplication of glue
Unacceptable
Color was sloppily placed on the drawing. No straight edges were used when cutting and as a result the cuts are choppy and crooked. Glue hangs over the edges.
Apparent Effort
Excellent
Students design was difficult and finished the model with a great amount of effort and problem solving.
Acceptable
Student put forth a good amount of effort but the model still looks like it could have a little more time spent on it.
Unacceptable
There was no effort apparent in putting together the model. It was constructed in the least amount of time with easy construction practices.
