Language used	Good Language used is highly expressive and influential. Correct terminology is used.	Fair Language used shows an understanding of producing a written argument. Some correct terminology or description that expresses thoughts well.	Poor Language used is poor with little attempt to persuade. Descriptions that do not define ideas well.
Critical thought	Good Has given thought to both sides of the argument and counters the opposing view.	Fair Has given thought to one side of the argument although has not countered opposing view.	Poor Little thought given to either side of the argument with no attempt to express an understanding of the topic.
Effectiveness	Good Essay is very effective and will make reader give more thought on the subject.	Fair Essay is mildly effective and will leave the reader wanting to debate some issues.	Poor Essay is ineffective leaving the reader to dismiss the topic.
Grammar	Good Correct spelling punctuation and paragraphing throughout.	Fair Spelling and punctuation mostly corrrect. Paragraphs mostly okay.	Poor Many spelling, punctuation errors. No atempt at correct paragraphing.
