Purpose Circle - to indicate standard achieved	Needs Improvement Identified a question that could not be tested/investigated or one that did not merit investigation.	Satifactory Identified, with teacher help, a question that could be investigated.	Good Identified, with teacher help a question which could be investigated based on scientific research and that is interesting to the student.	Excellent Independently identified a question which could be investigated based on scientific research and which is interesting to the student.
Theory Development Circle - to indicate standard achieved	Needs Improvement Needed teacher assistance to develop an hypothesis or to do basic research.	Satifactory Independently developed an hypothesis somewhat substatiated by research.	Good Independently developed an hypothesis somewhat substantiated by research and observation of a similar phenomena.	Excellent Independently developed an hypothesis well substantiated by research and observation of a similar phenomena.
Description of Procedure Circle - to indicate standard achieved	Needs Improvement Procedures that were outlined were incomplete or not sequential, even after teacher feedback had been given.	Satifactory Procedures were outlined in a step-by-step fashion, but had 1 or 2 gaps that require explanation even after teacher feedback had been given.	Good Procedures were outlined in a step-by-step fashion that could be followed by anyone without additional explanations. Some teacher help was needed to accomplish this.
