Understanding/Accuracy	1 Student shows no to little understanding of the content in the text. A lot of support is needed.	2 Student shows some understanding of the content in the text. Major lapses are apparent. Support is needed.	3 Student shows understanding of most content in the text. Some minor lapses exist	4 Student shows a near complete understanding of the content in the text. 2 or 3 minor lapses exist.	5 Student shows a complete understanding of the content in the text. 1 or less minor lapses exist.
Creativity	1 The student provides a short summary of the text provided.	2 The student shows some progression from summary towards paraphrasing.	3 The student paraphrasing the text with difficulty finding the correct words or terms.	4 The student paraphrases the text with difficulty being creative. He or she usually resorts to swapping words.	5 The student paraphrases the text with creativity showing the language in modern terms.
