Yoga 
Yoga is a total body strengthening activity which uses balance and flexibility to increase and maintain overall health. It incorporates peace of mind, relaxation and breathing techniques. Students will be given information on how Yoga can be used to increase their overall level of fitness, by combining the above as part of a healthy lifestyle. Students will apply the information and poses to their daily lives to insure an optimal level of health.

Excellent

Is always eager to begin the yoga lesson. Completes pre yoga stretches then sits quietly in lotus position.
Satisfactory

Is often ready to begin the yoga lesson, but may have to be be reminded occasionally to complete the pre-yoga exercises and sit properly when done.
Progressing

Is willing to begin the yoga lesson but only after the teacher reminds the student to start the pre-yoga stretches. He may have to be reminded daily.
Not at grade level

Is rarely ready and able to begin the yoga lesson. The teacher has to speak to student repeatedly during one class.
Effort/Concentration

Excellent

Perseveres and concentrates when learning/holding poses. Only moves to modified pose after giving 100% effort on original pose.
Always participates actively and willingly. Is able to model yoga poses for peers.
Satisfactory

Perseveres and concentrates when learning/holding poses. Only moves to modified pose after giving 100% effort on original pose. Participates actively, but may need to be reminded to stay on task occasionally.
Progressing

May move to modified position instead of giving 100% effort on original pose. Participates actively with frequent reminders to follow instruction and remain on task.
Not at grade level

Has difficulty concentrating when learning/holding poses. Disrupts other students trying to concentrate and relax. Has difficulty following directions and staying on task.

All talking stops when music begins. Stays on mat. Keeps hands and feet to self. Performs only the Yoga poses presented.

May have to be reminded to stop talking. Stays on mat. Keeps hands and feet to self. Performs only the Yoga poses presented.

May have to be reminded to stop talking more than one time. Might enter into other's space occasionally, touching other student accidentally. Performs only the yoga poses presented.
Not at grade level

Has to be reminded continuously to stop talking. Rolls or positions self off of mat, in other's space. Touches other students trying to perform pose. Tries to do other types of activities on mats, i.e. gymnastics, wrestling, etc.
