Cubism inspired drawings in which students "shatter" or break up the space on their page in order to practice using a variety of color values within the broken spaces.

Composition

A- Excelling

Composition is well-thought out. the student demonstarted the use of organized space by not drawing too small, too large, or too much information on the page. The student sucessfully created visual balance by placing subjests throughout the page without causing one side of the paper to appear "heavy."
B - Above Average

Composition was thought out. The student demonstarted the use of organized space. The student sucessfully created visual balance by placing subjects throughout the page without causing one side of the paper to appear "heavy."
C - Average

Student could have applied more thought about his/her composition arrangment prior to starting the drawing. The student demonstrated limited knolwedge of using organized space and visual balance, but did attempt to do so. Some subjects may have been drawn too small, too large, or too many. One side of the composition may appear to be heavy.
D- Below Average

No thought of of composition arrangment is eveident prior to starting the drawing. The student did not consider space on his/her page, drew subjects too small or created too many. one side of the composition may appear to be very heavy. Visual babalnce was not considered.
F - Failing

Space

A- Excelling

Student clearly used a well thought out and planned " shattering " method in order to break up the space on his/her page. Space is broken up in an organized, clear, and creative way. Student was clearly influenced by the Cubism style artwork that was presented as an inspriration.
B - Above Average

Student clearly planned " a shattering " method in order to break up the space on his/her page. Space is broken up in an organized, clear, and creative way.
C - Average

Student broke up the space on his/her page using a "shattering" method. No evidence of planning prior to this step is obvious. "Shattering "method could be better thought out.
D- Below Average

Student attempted to break up the space on his/her page, but his/her method was unsuccessfull or very difficult to work with. "Shattering" method needs to be simplified or may be "too" simple.
F - Failing

Incomplete. Student did not use any method of breaking up space on his/her page.

Student created shaded values scales within each broken space on his/her page. Each color value scale has five or more obvious values. Each value scale has contrast starting with the darkest shade and ending with pure white.

Student created shaded color values scales within each broken space on his/her page. Each value scale has five or more obvious values.

Student created shaded color values scales within each broken space on his/her page. Each value scale has only four obvious values.
D- Below Average

Student created shaded color values scales within each broken space on his/her page. Each value scale has three or less obvious values.
