Contour Portraits

Contour Drawing	Fair Student didn't pay attention to contour lines and the project contains sketchy lines.	Average Portraits are drawn with contour lines, but the portraits could have contained more details.	Excellent The student successfully uses contour in their composition in an imaginative way. They included many details and line thicknesses.
Composition/Design	Fair Student didn't attempt to collage the portraits in an interesting way. There was little attempt in recreating a new design.	Average The student has made one or more conscious choices to create a balanced, observational drawing, but their efforts are not always successful.	Excellent Student planned a well thought out design, using space, size, and creating an interesting design by combining at least three faces.
Use of oil pastel	Fair Oil pastel was applied unevenly. The background paper shows through in some areas.	Average Oil pastel was applied evenly, but student could have gotten more creative with application and blended colors in more areas.	Excellent The exceptional application of oil pastels with blending and interesting color choices shows. Values are even and vibrant.
Craftsmanship	Fair Student didn't pay attention to detail and parts of the paper are folded or ripped.	Average Some areas of the project were left unfinished or messy. Smudges appear in some ares of the project.	Excellent Careful attention to details and overall quality. no erased marks, smudges, or rips in the paper. Project is very neat and clean.
Time	Fair Class time was not used wisely and the student put in no additional effort.	Average Class time was not always used wisely, but the student did do some additional work.	Excellent Class time was used wisely. Much time and effort went into the planning and design of the drawing. It is clear the student worked extra time while project was assigned.
